ABSTRACT

A patient was pregnant four months after the percutaneous coronary intervention, and the ultrasound indicated a complete placenta previa and a placenta percreta. Concerned about radiation and drugs exposure on the fetus, the patient chose to terminate the pregnancy. After multidisciplinary consultation, tirofiban was used for antithrombotic therapy in substitution for dual antiplatelet drugs, and an abdominal aortic balloon was inserted preoperatively. The placenta that penetrated the serous membrane and uterine wall at laparotomy was resected, and the uterus was reconstructed. Prophylactic antibiotics, anticoagulation, and transitional antiplatelet therapy with tirofiban were given after the operation. The patient was discharged on day six postoperatively.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the current status of the postpartum weight retention (PPWR) in Kaifu District of Changsha, and explore the influential factors with PPWR based on the generalized estimating equation model.
 Methods: A cluster sampling method was applied to select women who gave birth at the health service centers of 3 street communities in Kaifu District of Changsha during 2015. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 783 cases were finally included in the study. Data on PPWR were collected prospectively by using the self-made questionnaire at 1, 3, 6 and 8 months after childbirth. Analysis were performed to investigate the associations between PPWR and its potential factors with generalized estimation equation model.
 Results: The mean PPWR of women was gradually decreased with the increase of postpartum time, and 34.6% of them have returned to the pre-pregnancy weight in the 8 months postpartum. Our findings revealed that gestation weight gain (GWG), pre-pregnancy body mass index, feeding patterns, and delivery mode were significantly associated with maternal PPWR (P0.05).
 Conclusion: GWG is one of the most important predictors for PPWR. The key to reducing PPWR is to control GWG systematically. Early targeted interventions and health education should be taken to prevent women from excessive PPWR at the first-year postpartum, in particular to the women who underwent cesarean deliveries and breastfed their infants. It is conducive to reduce the risks of overweight or obesity caused by PPWR.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To determine influential factors for delayed breastfeeding initiation.Methods:Using questionnaires to collect the data of 950 pregnant women and infants' feeding practices in Changsha,Hunan,logistic regression and decision tree model were used to determine influential factors for delayed breastfeeding initiation.Results:Mothers with timely breastfeeding initiation were 594 (62.5%),and those with delayed breastfeeding initiation accounted for 356 (37.5%).Mothers with timely breastfeeding initiation were more likely to use exclusive breastfeeding than those with delayed breastfeeding initiation (P<0.05).Four risk factors were found by logistic regression model and decision tree model,including cesarean delivery,using feeding-bottle before breastfeeding initiation,falling ill,and vomiting during pregnancy.Receiver operating characteristic curve showed no significant difference in the predictive effect of the 2 models (Z=0.142,P=0.889).Conclusion:Cesarean delivery,using feeding-bottle before initiation of breastfeeding,and poor physical condition during pregnancy exert negatively effects on breastfeeding initiation.Health workers should help mother to timely initiate breastfeeding and enhance their confidence in exclusive breastfeeding.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the current status of the postpartum depression in Kaifu District in Changsha,and to explore the influential factors for postpartum depression.Methods:We selected the mothers,who had a delivery and met the inclusion criteria in Changsha during 2015,as the participants and established a prospective birth cohort study.The social demographic characteristics and health-related information for the mothers and their families were collected by using self-made questionnaire.The mothers' depression symptoms after one month postpartum were assessed by the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale.We used the structural equation model to analyze the influential factors for postpartum depression.Results:A total of 961 cases were investigated.82 of them whose scores of EPDS were ≥ 9 points,and the incidence of PPD was 8.2%.The results of structural equation model revealed the influential factors and their correlations with postpartum depression.It has been shown that maternal age,maternal education level,per capita income of family,intention of pregnancy,pregnancy-related complications,mode of conception,mode of delivery,feeding patterns,birth weight,baby gender,and infant illness could exert effects on postpartum depression.Conclusion:The incidence of postpartum depression in Kaifu District is at a low level and the structural equation model can be applied to analyze the influential factors and their relations with postpartum depression.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the factors influencing pregnancy outcome of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) patients with isolated fasting hyperglycemia.Methods Medical records of 1 059 GDM patients with isolated fasting hyperglycemia,who gavc birth at Peking University First Hospital between January 2012 and December 2015,were retrospectively reviewed.Clinical data,including maternal age,pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI),fasting plasma glucose (FPG) in the first trimester,results of oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT),area under the curve (AUC) of OGTT,glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc),re-tested FPG (within one week after OGTT) and insulin usage,were analyzed.Patients with or without adverse pregnancy outcome,including first cesarean section,larger for gestational age,preterm birth,hypertensive disorders of pregnancy,dystocia or birth trauma,neonatal hypoglycemia and neonatal hyperbilimbinemia,were respectively divided into two groups.T or Chi-square test was used for univariate analysis.Logistic regression was used for multivariate analysis.Results Among the 1 059 patients,18 (1.7%) received insulin therapy and 591 had adverse pregnancy outcome (55.8%).Univariate analysis showed that the percentages of patients whose age ≥ 35 years old,pre-pregnancy BMI ≥ 25,AUC ≥ 13 mmol/L · h or HbAlc ≥ 5.5% were higher in the group with adverse pregnancy outcome than in those without adverse pregnancy outcome [21.7% (128/591) vs 13.2% (62/468),x2=12.548;28.9% (171/591) vs 16.2% (76/468),x2=23.535;87.5% (517/591) vs 78.4% (367/468),x2=15.542;32.9% (155/471) vs 26.2% (99/377),x2=4.514;all P<0.05].The average values of OGTT-1 h and OGTT-2 h in patients with adverse pregnancy outcome were higher than in those without [(8.27 ± 1.14) vs (8.11 ±-1.19) mmol/L,t=-0.367;(7.01 ±0.85) vs (6.88±0.87) mmol/L,t=-0.517;both P<0.05].Multivariate analysis showed that pre-pregnancy BMI<25 and AUC<13 mmol/L · h were protective factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes [OR (95%CI):0.498 (0.355-0.698) and 0.431 (0.247-0.752),both P<0.01].Conclusions Pre pregnancy BMI<25 and AUC<13 mmol/L · h are protective factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes in GDM patients with isolated fasting hyperglycemia.Clinical practitioners may regard this group of women as relatively low-risk to avoid unnecessary intervention.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of Xinnaoxin pills on CAT score,cardiopulmonary function and hemorheology of patients with pulmonary heart disease complicating with coronary heart disease. METHODS:In retrospective study,80 cases of pulmonary heart disease complicating with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 40 cases in each group. Control group was given routine treatment as relieving asthma,eliminating phlegm and oxygen inhala-tion,anti-infective treatment,correcting acid-base balance,cardiotonic and diuretic treatment. Observation group was additionally given Xinnaoxin pills 1.0 g/time,bid after meal,on the basis of control group. CAT score,cardiopulmonary function and hemorhe-ology index were compared between 2 groups before and after treatment as well as ischemic ECG improvement effect and the occur-rence of ADR after treatment. RESULTS:After treatment,hematocrit hematocrit had changed slightly among hemorheology index-es,and CAT score,other hemorheology indexes and cardiopulmonary function indexes were improved significantly;the improve-ment of observation group was better than that of control group,with statistical significance(P0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Xinnaoxin pills can effectively improve CAT score and cardiopulmonary function of patients with pulmonary heart disease complicating with coronary heart dis-ease. It also can improve hemorheology and shows good clinical efficacy,but great importance should be attached to the safety of drug use in the clinic.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effect and mechanism of dexamethasone combined with puerarin for treatment of paraquat (PQ) poisoned rats.Methods Thirty Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were divided by random number table into 5 groups: control, model, dexamethasone, puerarin and combined groups, 6 rats in each group. The PQ poisoned rat model was established by intraperitoneal injection of PQ 25 mg/kg (1 mL), while in the rat of the control group, the same volume of normal saline was injected intraperitoneally. After 2 hours, in the rat of dexamethasone group, 20 mg/kg dexamethasone in 1.5 mL was injected intraperitoneally, and in the rat of puerarin group, 100 mg/kg puerarin in 1.5 mL was injected intraperitoneally. In the rat of combined group, 20 mg/kg dexamethasone combined with 100 mg/kg puerarin in a total amount of 1.5 mL was injected intraperitoneally. In the control group and model group, 1.5 mL of normal saline was injected intraperitoneally. The above mentioned treatments were repeated once more 26 hours later. In 26-50 hours after modeling, urine was collected, and urine N-acetyl-beta-D-amino glycosidase enzymes (NAG) was tested; at the 50th, abdominal aortic blood was collected to test oxygen partial pressure (PaO2). The lung index, kidney index, and the levels of malonaldehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) were measured in the left lung and kidney tissue homogenates separately; the right lung and kidney were harvested to observe pathological changes under light microscope. Another 30 SD rats were treated the same as above measures but no sacrifice to observe 30-day survival rate in each group.Results The lung index, kidney index, NAG in urine, MDA and MPO levels in lung and kidney tissue homogenates in model group were significantly higher than those in the control group [lung index: 9.80±1.83 vs. 4.97±1.14, kidney index: 9.40±1.32 vs. 7.01±0.32, NAG (U·kg-1·day-1): 1.93±0.18 vs. 0.41±0.03, MDA of lung (nmol/mg): 1.04±0.15 vs. 0.28±0.10, MDA of kidney (nmol/mg): 1.39±0.16 vs. 0.66±0.13, MPO of lung (U/g): 1.14±0.08 vs. 0.81±0.06, MPO of kidney (U/g): 0.88±0.08 vs. 0.52±0.12]; while PaO2 [mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa): 59.83±4.40 vs. 97.00±2.83] and SOD (U/mg): lung was 27.38±3.48 vs. 86.88±5.88; kidney was 24.18±3.74 vs. 57.86±6.14) were obviously lower than those in control group (allP 0.05).Conclusions Dexamethasone can improve the prognosis of rats with acute paraquat intoxication, it can provide lung protection markedly, but cannot provide significant protective effect on kidney; puerarin has therapeutic effect on rats with acute PQ poisoning, it can provide not only lung protection but also kidney protection. The effect of treatment with dexamethasone combined with puerarin is not superior to that by using dexamethasone or puerarin alone.

ABSTRACT

The heterochronic genes regulate cell proliferation and switch development stage transitions. Heterochronic genes might also play important roles in regulating the development of silkworm, but very few of their expression profiles, functions and their relationship with microRNAs are available so far. Firstly, in this work, the primers for cloning Bmlin-41 were designed based on the homologous sequence of known Drosophila melanogaster lin-41, which was used as the query to blast against SilkDB. The obtained full CDS (2 166 bp) of Bmlin-41 encodes 721 amino acids and contains B-box and NHL domains. Then, the spatiotemporal expression patterns of Bmlin-41 were characterized by RT-PCR, quantitative real time PCR as well as our lab's previous silkworm genome microarray data. Bmlin-41 was increasingly expressed from embryonic to adult stage. In diverse tissues of day-3 fifth instar, Bmlin-41 showed the highest accumulation in ovary, secondly in testis and midgut, but very low expression was observed in other tissues. Finally, 3'UTR of Bmlin-41 1 434 bp was cloned by rapid-amplification of cDNA ends (3'RACE) and was predicted to bare two binding sites of bmo-let-7 by using online RNAhybrid. To verify the binding effect, 3'UTR was cloned into psi-CHECK-2 vector and submitted to dual luciferase assay in the S2 cells in vitro. The dual luciferase assay demonstrated that Bmlin-41 was down-regulated by bmo-let-7 mimics and upregulated by bmo-let-7 antagomir, thus confirming the Bmlin-41 is negatively regulated by bmo-let-7. Our work might help further study on the roles of Bmlin-41 and bmo-let-7 and their regulation relationship involved in controlling metamorphosis of silkworm.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of combined detection of serum calcium ion (Ca2+ ) ,C‐reaction protein (CRP) ,uric acid(UA) ,homocysteine(Hcy) and complement C3 ,C4 in hypertension disorders complicating pregnancy(HDCP) . Methods Patients with HDCP were enrolled as HDCP group ,and pregnant women without HDCP were enrolled as control group . Serum parameters ,mentioned above ,were detected and compared between the two groups .Diagnostic performance of the parameters was also analyzed .Results Serum levels of Ca2+ ,CRP ,UA ,Hcy and complement C3 ,C4 in HDCP group were significantly differ‐ent from those in control group(P0 .05) .Serum lev‐els of CRP ,UA and Hcy increased with the progress of HDCP disease condition ,but serum levels of Ca2+ ,C3 and C4 decreased .Be‐tween different sub‐group of HDCP patients ,serum levels of the six parameters were with significant differences(P<0 .05) .Conclu‐sion Early combined detection of serum Ca2+ ,CRP ,UA ,Hcy and complement C3 ,C4 could be with significance for the early diag‐nosis and treatment of HDCP ,and also for the condition assessment of HDCP .

ABSTRACT

microRNAs (miRNAs) are an extensive class of -22-nucleotide (nt) endogenous noncoding RNAs regulating life activities ofmetazoans through binding to 3'-untranslated regions (3'-UTRs) of their target genes. This work aimed to identify yan gene in the silkworm, reveal its expression profile and confirm if it is one target of bmo-miR-7 and, as such, have potential for contributing to better understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in the metamorphosis of silkworm. Based on homolog searching and PCR amplification, we cloned the coding sequence (CDS) of Bmyan, which encodes 476 amino acid residues and contains SAM-PNT and ETs domains. Quantitative PCR (q-PCR), RT-PCR and microarray data revealed high expression of Bmyan in the head, body wall and ovary of day-3 fifth instar larval silkworm, low or no expression in other tissues. It was lowly expressed in the early larval stages, but highly expressed from late spinning to day 4 pupa. The 3'-UTR of Bmyan was obtained by rapid-amplification of cDNA ends (3'RACE) and predicted to contain two potential recognition sites of bmo-miR-7. The luciferase reporter vector containing the 3'-UTR of Bmyan was constructed and co-transfected into BmE cell line with the mimic of bmo-miR-7 and the decreased relative activity of luciferase showed that Bmyan is one target of bmo-miR-7. This work helps further functional analysis of bmo-miR-7 and Bmyan in the silkworm.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate whether there existed a healthy obese subtype.Methods A total of 116 healthy subjects were recruited.They were divided into 3 groups according to BMI and metabolic disorders:40 cases of normal weight and metabolic normality (NMN),36 cases of obesity and metabolic normality (OMN) and 40 cases of obesity and metabolic abnormality (OMA).Anthropometic parameters as height,weight,waist circumference,hip circumference and blood pressure was recorded.Blood glucose,lipids,insulin,high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) was detected.Body fat distribution was detected by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).Serum von Willebrand factor (vWF),a marker of endothelial dysfunction,were detected by ELISA.Results Both serum vWF levels in OMN group [(733.6±86.2)U/L] and OMA group[(809.2 ±46.3)U/L] are higher than that in NMN group [(466.9 ±65.3)U/L,P <0.05] with serum vWF level in OMA group is higher than in OMN group (P < 0.05).Among android fat mass percentage (AFM%),BMI,waist height ratio,waist circumference,hs-CRP,weight,hip circumference and trunk fat mass,AFM%,BMI and hs-CRP are main influencing factors of vWF.Conclusions Endothelial dysfunction existed in obese adults regardless of their metabolic status.There is no healthy obese subtype.AFM%,BMI and hs-CRP are the main influencing factors of endothelial dysfunction.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the stability of Liuwei Qiangu cataplasms. Methods:The active ingredient( naringin) in the samples was determined by HPLC. Meanwhile, the other indices including character, identification, ointment content, adhesion, mi-crobial limit and so on were detected as well. Results:The results of the accelerated test and long term test showed that Liuwei Qiangu cataplasms were stable. No significant change in each index was found before and after the tests. Conclusion: Liuwei Qiangu cata-plasms are stable at room temperature. The designs of preparation process and package are rational to keep the stability of the prepara-tion.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the treatment failure sites, risk factors, and survival rates of patients with persistent or recur-rent squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the cervix within one year after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methods:Clinical data of 30 patients with persistent or recurrent SCC of the cervix within one year after CCRT between June 2006 and June 2011 were ana-lyzed retrospectively. These data were compared with those of another 35 SCC cases without recurrence after complete remission. These 35 patients were treated homeochronously (from 2006 to 2011) and randomized in the control group. Results:Among the 30 pa-tients, 25 exhibited distant metastases;14 of these 25 patients were observed within six months after CCRT. Univariate analysis showed a higher incidence of pelvic or para-aortic lymphadenectasis and SCC-ag>10 ng/mL in the group with persistent or recurrent disease be-fore treatment (P10 ng/mL were found as the independent risk factors. Palliative chemotherapy ranked as the first method used to treat patients. The two-year survival rate was 21.7%, and the median survival time was 17 months. Conclusion:Patients with persistent or recurrent SCC of the cervix after CCRT possibly exhibited a high rate of distant metastasis with poor prognosis. The pre-therapeutic pelvic or para-aortic lymph node enlargement and SCC-ag>10 ng/mL were found as the independent risk factors of per-sistent or recurrent SCC within one year after CCRT.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To establish a HPLC-ELSD fingerprint of Marsdenia tenacissima from different habitats, in order to provide a reliable method for scientific assessment and effective quality control.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>HPLC-ELSD was adopted to determine 25 baches of M. tenacissima herbs from different habitats. Traditional Chinese medicine chromatographic fingerprint similarity software assessment system 2004 developed by China Pharmacopoeia Committee was adopted to establish a common mode chart and assess chromatographic similarity based on the degree of correlation.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>The common mode for M. tenacissima herb C21 steroidal fingerprint was established, including 11 common characteristic peaks. Among them, 10 were identified. According to the assessment on the similarity of 25 batches of samples, 80% of them showed a similarity of over 0.80 in steroidal HPLC-ELSD fingerprint.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The method can be used to assess the quality of M. tenacissima.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objectives To explore the effect of transient continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) on β cell function, insulin resistance and vascular endothelial injury in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients and its potential mechanism. Methods Ten patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) accepted CSII for two weeks. Intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) and hyperinsulinemia euglycemia clamp test were performed before and after CSII. Serum soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin) was used to evaluate the injury of vascular endothelial cell, while serum high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP) and soluble CD_(14) (sCD_(14)) were both used to assess inflammatory condition. Results (1) Compared with those before treatment, the blood glucose levels of IVGTT, the area under the curve of the blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, TC and LDL-C in the patients were decreased after CSII (P < 0. 05 or 0. 01). (2) Compared with those before treatment, the insulin levels of IVGTT (except the fasting insulin), the area under the curve of insulin and acute insulin response were all increased after CSII(P < 0.05 or 0.01). (3) Compared with that before treatment, the glucose infusion ratio in the clamp test [(3.46±1.66)mg·kg~(-1)·min~(-1) increased to (7.14±2.37)mg·kg~(-1)·min~(-1)]and HOMA-β elevated, while HOMA-IR declined (P <0. 05 or 0. 01 in all). (4) Compared with those before treatment, the levels of serum sE-selectin, sCD_(14) and hsCRP were decreased (P < 0. 01, except for hsCRP) . Conclusion Transient intensive insulin therapy in patients with newly diagnosed T2DM is useful to restore 13 cell function, attenuate insulin resistance, repair vascular endothelial injury and improve the disorder of blood sugar and lipid. The mechanism may be related with the inhibition of inflammation in patients.

OBJECTIVE@#To determine the correlation of serum soluble CD14 (sCD14) level with the injury of vascular endothelial cells and chronic low grade inflammation in newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes (T2DM).@*METHODS@#ELISA was used to examine serum sCD14 and serum soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin) level, while immunoturbidimetric assay was used to detect serum high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP).@*RESULTS@#The levels of serum sCD14, sE-selectin, and hsCRP in newly diagnosed T2DM group were higher than those in the euglycemic group [sCD14: (300.7+/-136.6) ng/mL vs. (273.3+/-86.0) ng/mL); sE-selectin: (21.3+/-7.7) ng/mL vs. (32.9+/-11.4) ng/mL; hsCRP: (1.45+/-1.21) mg/L vs. (2.37+/-1.45)mg/L], and there was a significant difference in the latter two parameters between the 2 groups(P<0.01). In the patients with newly diagnosed T2DM, after matching blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipid, the levels of serum sCD14, sE-selectin, and hsCRP in the obese group were higher than those in the non-obese group. There was no significant difference in the former 2 parameters between the 2 groups. The serum sE-selectin was correlated with fasting blood sugar (r=0.369, P<0.001), 2-hour postprandial blood sugar (r=0.421, P<0.001), glycosylated hemoglobin (r=0.291, P=0.005), sCD14(r=0.312, P=0.002), and homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance(r=0.247, P=0.018) in the newly diagnosed T2DM group. Stepwise regression ana-lysis showed that the serum sCD14 was one of the chief influencing factors on serum sE-selectin.@*CONCLUSION@#Serum sCD14 levels tend to increase in newly diagnosed T2DM patients, especially in the obese diabetic patients, which is one of the chief influencing factors to induce the injury of vascular endothelial cells. The innate immunity mediated by Toll-like receptor 4 may take part in the injury of vascular endothelial cells in newly diagnosed T2DM patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the molecular mechanism of glucocorticoid (GC)-induced osteoporosis (GIOP). Methods Thirty-two female SD rats after matching body weight were divided randomly into three groups: baseline group (n = 10), control group (n = 11) and GC-treated group (n = 11). The administration time was 9 weeks. Bone mineral density (BMD) was measured with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. A high resolution micro-CT was used to quantify the densitometric and microarchitectural properties of trabeculae in the proximal metaphysis of right tibia. In situ hybridization histochemistry and immunohistochemistry were used to detect the expression of cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CBI R) in the proximal metaphysis of left tibia. Results At the end of the experiment, whole-body BMD in vivo in the control group [(0. 156±0. 008) g/cm2]was higher than that in the baseline group [(0.147±0.006)g/cm2], while the whole-body BMD in vivo [(0.147±0.006) g/cm2]and total BMD in vitro at femurs in the GC-treated group [(0.220±0.011) g/cm2]was lower than those in the control group [(0. 240±0. 024)g/cm2]. Compared with the baseline group and control group, there was a remarkable decrease in the volumetric BMD, tissue BMD, trabecular number and trabecular connectivity (P<0.05) in the GC-treated group, while there was a significant increase in trabecular separation (P < 0. 05) and trabecular thickness also increased in the proximal metaphysis of tibiae in the GC-treated group. The expression level of CB1R mRNA and protein in osteoclasts in the GC-treated group was markedly higher than that in the baseline group and control group (P < 0. 05). There was a close correlation between the expression level of CB1R mRNA, protein in osteoclasts and some microarchitectural parameters in the proximal metaphysis in the GC-treated group (P<0.05). Conclusions The administration of GC is associated with a decrease in BMD and deterioration in microarchitecture of trabecular bone in rats tibiae. Glucocorticoid may up-regulate the CB1R expression level in osteoclasts and this may be a kind of molecular mechanism of GIOP.

ABSTRACT

Serum osteoprotegerin (OPG) concentration was measured in 647 healthy female adults (aged 20-81 years), and was compared with that of other races. The serum OPG was positively correlated with age (r = 0.276, P <0.01). The geometric mean value of serum OPG in premenopausal women was significantly lower than those in perimenopansal and postmenopausal women. The serum OPG in middle-aged Chinese women was signifieandy higher than those in middle-aged Austrian and Icelandic, but this was quite contrary to the results obtained in old-aged women.

ABSTRACT

Objective To summarize the experience of laparoscopic appendectomy(LA).Methods A retrospective analysis was carried out on clinical data of 162 cases of laparoscopic appendectomy in this hospital from August 2002 to April 2005.Results Laparoscopic operation was completed in all the cases but 1 case of intestinal tuberculosis.The operative time was 30~90 min(mean,42 min) and the intraoperative blood loss was 5~10 ml.No complications were noted.Conclusions Laparoscopic appendectomy has advantages of little invasion,less blood loss,rapid recovery,and fewer complications,being a safe and ideal surgical alternative.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To optimize the preparation technology of phloroglucinol phospholipids complex and study its physicochemical properties.METHODS: The preparation technology for phloroglucinol phospholipids complex was optimized taking the molar ratio of phloroglucinol to phospholipids(A),reaction temperature(B) and reaction time(C) as factors and complex ratio of phloroglucinol and phospholipid as index.The dissolubility and oil/water partition coefficient of the complex in different solvents were determined and compared with crude drug,and the new complex's physicochemical properties were validated by UV and IR(infrared spectra).RESULTS: The optimized preparation conditions for phloroglucinol phospholipids complex were obtained as follows: A was 1∶2;B was 60 ℃ and C was 2 h.The complex ratio remained at above 98%.Compared with phloroglucinol crude drug,the phloroglucinol phospholipids complex in water or chloroform showed increase in both dissolubility and oil/water partition coefficient.UV and IR confirmed that no new complex had been formed from phloroglucinol and phospholipids.CONCLUSION: The optimized technology greatly enhanced the dissolubility and lipotropy of the phloroglucinol phospholipids complex.
